Yes, there are many famous examples of deception from the past. During World War II, for example, the Allies famously used deception through Operation Fortitude to make Nazi Germany believe an invasion was being planned elsewhere instead of the actual target—Normandy. In the American Revolution, George Washington also famously used deception to make the British believe he was targeting New York instead of crossing the Delaware River. These are just two examples of many throughout history of deception being used as a tool in warfare.
