Well, Beryl is about to make landfall (I hate that hurricanes always hit in the middle of the night in Texas, dammit). I have a 10 a.m. shift at work unless they call me off & shut down. It's a 24-hr restaurant without a generator, so who knows (I'm kicking myself for not asking questions earlier, but we were swamped & short-handed).
Part of me hopes to stay home, but I hate feeling useless & keeping folks fed will stave off boredom. I bookmarked the TXDoT road closures website & consult it during these events ever since Harvey stranded me for 3 days (we were fine, the roads weren't).
The wind gusts will certainly be a concern and slow me down, but it's the rain & flooding that we fear most since Allison in 2001. Recent construction has made new flooding areas, too.
Either way, I highly doubt I'll be sleeping much & have already cut the breaker to my appliances in case the power goes out & my Generac kicks on. I need to stretch out my gas supply, after all, & limit power drains.
