I don't think it would be the end of MSM in the US. Just a slight downsize. The vacuum created by the exiting Pharma ads would be filled fairly quickly by other players, most likely the usual suspects like Big Food, Insurance companies and such.
That's what has happened elsewhere where Pharma ads have been banned for decades, and the ad-based media is still doing fine.
The only "downside" would be the loss of the comedic value of the US Pharma ads, namely the hilarious disclaimers.
