I helped a farmer friend of mine move some stuff today. He has an old one room school house on his property that's getting torn down (it's falling down, no hope of salvage), and he needed a hand getting some heavy stuff out that he wanted to save.
He gave me a 160' (!) long chain for my troubles, and some black marble slabs he had in there. He said there was a local bank that closed in the 1930s and they tore out all the marble and stored it in the school house because it closed at about the same time.
I've been wanting to buy one of those perfectly flat granite plates for sharpening stuff for awhile now, but I figure these are good enough for my purposes. There are a few chips on the edges but otherwise they seem to be in great condition. They're 19"×10"×2¼", so plenty big enough.
