"content": "Now I'm reminded of running WindowMaker on a 486 machine with only 32MB of RAM. The machine came with 4MB, and 32MB was the maximum the motherboard could support.\n\nIt ran quite well! Many fond memories were had.\n\nBut Linux was a simpler system back then. Nowadays, the kernel alone would consume most if not all of its RAM. (Also, Linux no longer runs on a 486.)",
