I even know university professors. I know what they make... I'm utterly underwhelmed by the "teachers don't make enough" argument.
We throw 10's of thousands of dollars per student. Every state does. It's not a funding issue and it's not a salary issue. Private sector does much more with much less. Ask any entrepreneur.
The difference is in motivation. You need motivated teachers and motivated students. Our system kills the motivation in both. You get shitty teachers, shitty students and predictably shitty results.
