Silly ideas: multi-chip fast SRAM modules for neo-retro systems, with a standardized pinout and physical form factor -- using two-row vertical pin headers with 2.54mm pitch, soldered to the edge of the small PCB, to make a kind of two-row SIPP module.
(SIPP modules were a brief way to connect memory where a single row of pins were soldered to the edge of the board -- this dates to about the 80286 era, replaced by SIMM sockets)
