Our route led us all the way uphill... we pedaled until we discovered Gradishte by coincidence.



On 'My Guide Bulgaria' is written:

'Gradishte is a historic landscape park in the

Rhodope Mountains where visitors can enjoy

spectacular views, pleasant trails, and see the

remains of an ancient Thracian rock sanctuary

According to some experts, Gradishte is the

largest temple of its kind in Bulgaria and very

possibly in Europe as well. The big rocks and

stones resemble various shapes such as

tortoise, whale, and one of them, 'the Head' at

the edge of the canyon, has now become the

symbol of the place.'



We enjoyed to stroll around these gigantig rocks.
