I've had my #HamRadio license, with my call sign KZ4LY, for a month and a half, and no one has corrected my saying "kay zee fower ell why" instead of "kay zed fower ell why." I'm used to "zed" from folks outside the US, but it took me this long to realize that **US** hams also use "zed" often for the terminal letter of the alphabet.
I still wish for phonetic spelling. Consistent, ICAO standard phonetic spelling. But it seems rare on the air.
But when I finally said "kay zed fower ell why" checking into tonight's net, net control read me back as "kay zee fower ell why," so it's not completely consistent. 😀
