Interestingly, the Federal Court found there was no violation of Canadians' right to public assembly or freedom of association, specifically rejecting the assertion that the Act criminalized protest. The only constitutional infringements were relating to the curtailment of the peaceful protesters' freedom of expression, how the regulations enabled unreasonable search and seizure of the occupiers' bank accounts.
