I joined the Free State Project in 2006, and made the move to NH from Nashville in 2010. When Gavin came up to Keene for a lunch date with the co-hosts of Free Talk Live about Bitcoin, we who had been active in civil disobedience, and had come together through the Ron Paul Campaign, grokked. Ross Ulbricht, Erik Voorhees, Roger Ver all heard about Bitcoin through that radio show. It was at the annual Porcupine Festival, affectionately called Porcfest, that Roger bought and are an ice cream purchased for 5 bitcoin. That is all context for my immediate environment 2011 to 2013. From there I went to NJ and NYC. Between BitPay, Cheap Air, Gyft, plus the many businesses that were evangelized to by the A-Team and accepted bitcoin as payment, all without KYC. ( I was levied by the I Ruin Souls game for $657K in '09 for '06 and was subsequently de-banked so KYC was not an available option for me.)
In 2014, I paid in bitcoin to fly to Miami and stay at the sister hotel of The Clevelander where the conference was taking place, buy a bikini, pay for weed that was in my room waiting for me, cover all of my food and beverages, and I showed no ID until TSA line or hotel desk. 🎶 This was the end, my friend. 🎶
