"A 'saddened' mum has expressed her fears over gender neutral toilets after her daughter - aged just five - made concerning disclosures. The reception age schoolgirl claims a boy of the same age allegedly touched her on three separate occasions inside the gender-neutral loos.
It first happened at the primary school in the West Midlands in September, with the incident repeating itself a further two times up until November last year, the mum said. The girl, who cannot be identified, was "quite down" when she informed her mum a boy had "touched her private parts."
The mum said: "I'm quite sad and angry that someone could actually do that to my little girl. I think girls should go to girls' toilets and boys should go to boys' toilets," Since the three incidents, the school has reportedly asked teachers to stand outside the toilets when in use, she added.
However, the mum feels more safeguarding measures should be implemented to protect her daughter as she claimed the boy had since "pushed" her daughter. "It's quite unnecessary for a five-year-old child to do that to another person," she said.
"She went to school on a normal school day, a little boy started to touch her private parts. We'd had a conversation before to say, 'no one touches your private parts, you tell mummy, you tell the school.'
"So she sat by me and was in quite a down mood, I was like: 'What's the matter?' I started to video record her, that's when she started to explain that he touched her. It was quite sad, I was on the phone straight away.
"I called her father and we went straight to the school with each other as parents. She's coping ok. Obviously we did report it to the school straight away and it went to the safeguarding person.
"They're still in reception. So we wanted them two not to go by each other, but they're still mingling if that makes sense. They're still in the same class."
