The alarm bells are more and more strident. And still the warnings go unheeded by governments around the world. In my darker moments I feel real despair at the losses that we are already beginning to experience. Reliance on some vague technological fix some time in the future is just hogwash. Earth systems are complex and even if we were able to return (say) CO2 to a more normal level, we have disturbed a chaotic system and it will never settle back into its old form.
