What once looked like a (partial) solution to the housing crisis has (for many) turned to into a trap.
Shared ownership deals usually required the occupier to maximise their capital invested (thereby already stretching their finances initially).
Now, 3 factors have combined to trap them:
mortgage rates have risen draining them of cash;
inflation-linked housing association rents have risen, on the non-owned portion;
selling for many is impossible due to cladding issues!
