I'm just surprised when I seem to get an "extinction burst" of emails at like 4:45 on a Friday (I work in libraries, many people are in my own time zone) and then it's quiet for a good long time. I find that the people who seem to think "Manage your own inbox" is the best practice (and I'm not arguing necessarily) don't seem to have experience working somewhere where people send them "Please do this ASAP" emails on Friday afternoon. I used to get a lot of them
