Sewing buttons in knitwear

The button should not be too close to the fabric, to allow for the extra layer when buttoned. So do not sew it on too tight and wind the yarn a couple of times around the “stalk” of the button.

You can sew a smaller button on the wrong side to avoid pulling and tearing the knitted fabric.
