Though P+R parking is very common too. That's a parking hub just outside the city, where you can then bike or take public transport your way into the city. Those hubs are well connected and usually have secure bike parking slots.

Scooters could be parked parallel along the walkway without being too much in the way, just like bikes. But many are just parked perpendicularly, so I think it's fair to compare scooters with bikes from my perspective.
