The Triffin Dilemma wherein the issuer of the world’s reserve currency hollows out its manufacturing base to buy cheaper things made abroad isn’t a law a physics, it happens via incentives. Trump is *trying* (perhaps it won’t succeed) to reverse *some* of those incentives via tariffs.
It might turn out to be the case that you have to choose per the dilemma between WRC status and being able to make things at home, but it’s worth trying to see whether you mitigate it first.

Freer trade has gotten us to the point where the US depends on a foreign adversary for their weapons and defense tech. How is that a good thing? Wouldn’t you at least want a motivator to get people to build a manufacturing base here instead? Build up expertise so that you are more self sovereign?
