It’s been ages since I baked apples (so I looked at a cooking mag). Honeycrisps are a no. Fuji & gala apples are supposed to be good.

I remember my mom used to wrap them in foil and put them on the grill. You can also slow cook. That’s not covered here, but I don’t think apples explode when you slow cook. (They may, and I just got lucky.)
