I'm glad you posted this.
I made the decision four or so years ago to ignore LN because I didn't have the time to deal with these headaches.
Since the tools have improved considerably in the last year been thinking about getting into it in a serious way.
People like Super Testnet (npub1yxp…399s) keep asserting that anybody can run a LN node and manage their own liquidity without significant problems.
Personally I'm not convinced LN will EVER be something the end user directly interacts with. Maybe its just another settlement layer.
Its just not useful to maintain that infrastructure just to be able to send a few hundred dollars worth of sats and you might as well use a custodian.
