If Russia influenced election 2016 in any way, that's an unacceptable assault upon our sovereignty. To let it go would be as self-destructive as making a deal with slavery. Eventually that will catch up with a country.
Ours is less a problem of "one side" versus the other" and more a problem of one side wanting cultural hegemony and cynically allying with a hostile foreign power to get it versus the rest of us. At present, the only viable party that speaks for the rest of us is the Democrats.
