Why are we concerned with increasing velocity?

3.3M scientific articles were published in 2022, trending higher every year. So much information is generated in a single year that one person could never process it.

These are the questions I ask myself:

Do we need to increase that output? Would bombarding ourselves with more information make our lives better?

Do we need to get our thoughts digitally enshrined as fast as possible? Is quantity a goal or is quality?

I would argue that our brains aren't designed to process the amount of information we are already exposed to every day. That focusing on our immediate environment and what we have control over is mentally healthy and creates meaningful lives.

That we would all benefit from slowing down and practicing patient deliberation. The limitations of our bodies filter out the transient, and unimportant thoughts. Imagine saying every thought that comes to your mind. Imagine doing every impulsive action.

Being human isn't something to be fixed. We are already the most advanced technology on the planet. Wanting more seems like a distraction and a little ungrateful.
