A substantial amount of the Mastodon user-base doesn't even realize that there's a wider network out there greater than themselves. With other software. Comprising other enclaves. It's really surprising to realize that. They're genuinely that sheltered and ignorant. I guess it's not a huge surprise considering that most of Mastodon has most of the wider Fediverse blocked in shared blocklists and #fediblock, so the denizens therein are kept from "going outside"---don't even know there's an "outside" to go to if their first experience on the Fediverse was joining a major Mastodon instance.
