"content": "Even after a rule change, I assume there’s not much hope for high-speed data transfer over HF beyond just short transmissions of text, since things have to use such narrow bandwidth. And then I assume with D-STAR/SystemFusion products in the 2m/440 bands, that much of it’s constrained by trying to fit data in like 8kHz or so (although I assume things could operate wider or so, but then it’s probably pissing people off for using up more of the band for one transmission), while people are used to the luxury of 20-40MHz wide data on 802.11 in the 2.4/5GHz ISM bands. Comparatively, I have no idea what the average smartphone uses in radio bandwidth for typical 4G LTE networks.",
