When I finally realized that feedback from my boss at a “check in” was just them reverse engineering the right compliments or criticisms of me to justify giving me the same raise (or, more likely, lack thereof) they would have anyway, it was then that I should’ve known I was having some issues with indirect communication. Alas, it took another year for me the finally realized I was autistic. Far too austistic to be middle managed.
Or even just managed. 😳
