What really captivates me about Mongol and Manchu culture is that, both groups have been unfairly maligned by people who aren't even Asian. It's still normalized for people to call them "barbarians" and talk about them as if the only thing they're good for is war and pillaging.

Western stereotypes about Asians used to be based on their experiences with the Huns, the Khitan, the Mongols and Manchus, so combined with racist shit from Confucianism in China and Korea, a lot of views on them are informed by Western racist shit too
