Mixed feelings about `ufw`. A blessing when building up a server for junior/mid sysadmins but can make a mess when you need to add detail with pre- and post- routing, forwarding rules etc, with iptables/netfilter directly.

Suddenly less 'uncomplicated' when you have to noodle with ufw's before-, user- and after- files to get it playing nice with your chains.

Sysadmin truisms here I guess. Sometimes convenience adds complexity. Sometimes embracing complexity is simpler.
