Something I see as related to how easily fascism is finding a home in the US is the fact that every time I politely object to some bureaucratic thing that is being forced on me as a paying customer/patient, many low-paid employees don't conceal their anger at me. Not anger at their bosses, but at me for not being "compliant" enough.
