I was about to say that we'll never know, but this screencap, which displays a tweet from 5 days ago, might offer some clue.
The reason I say "we'll never know" is because the shooter was killed. I guess people can always contact friends and relatives of this person, and hopefully they'll disclose some relevant details, at least.
