I'm becoming increasingly convinced Bluesky mainly got created to attempt to derail/dominate the rest of the fediverse. Sure the selling point/most attractive feature to Dorsey was likely "you can outsource moderation and avoid legal and social responsibility" while still data farming people and making ad/subscription money.

Call me cynical but the whole "it's a non-profit board" play with both BS and OpenAI is just PR, affective altruism if you will before pivoting to attempts at effective capitalism. Anyway, I guess we'll see but BS seems to be speed running this process right now. And I still much prefer it here, even if I'm still watching over there for now.
