Many FPS/Action RPG protagonist are silent or guff - easy to project yourself into. But, the appeal is the supporting characters, their motivations, and the world at large. If the defining characteristic of a crucial support is that they are gay, female, trans, black, white, Asian... It forces a stilted story as it's constrained to focus on details, when it should be world building.",
