Hi! Thanks for getting in touch. You can log into the Newsmast app using your Mastodon account so like any client (Phanpy, Ice Cubes, Tusky etc.) it needs access to allow you to do all the things you would usually do through Mastodon. Essentially, you're running your Mastodon account through the Newsmast interface so the app needs to obtain consent for certain actions - I hope that makes sense!
