Followup - burning the videos to an actual video was hard-locking the machine about 25% of the way in. Not even a BSOD - just hard-lock the whole thing. Have to hold the power button down for 5 seconds.
To me, this says "hey you fucked your GPU harder than anybody ever has." Thanks DaVinci.
You cannot disable use of the GPU path. They just don't have a CPU export path. Which is madness!
