The largest green destination in the city, 'Mother of the Emirates' garden, is located in the heart of Abu Dhabi, offering a unique experience for individuals from all walks of life. The garden, which spans 14.5 hectares, has undergone a comprehensive development program, which included a wide community participation program that involved more than 25 community groups and government agencies, as well as over 70 schools. The garden features a range of recreational and family facilities, including 'Shadow House', 'Animal Enclosure', 'Plant Garden', 'Children's Garden', 'Open Theater', 'Evening Garden', and others. The garden is home to a rich biodiversity of plant and animal species, including palm trees, evergreen trees, native and hybrid plants. The garden hosts more than 55 events annually, attracting over 800,000 visitors annually, with 9 restaurants and cafes, over 250 types of trees and plants, and more than 30,000 students visiting from 250 schools annually. The garden has set two Guinness World Records, with 1,467 people signing a large board designed by the Ministry of Tolerance in collaboration with Etihad Airways, and offering 2,586 types of sweets as part of the 'Abu Dhabi Food Festival' event, which was launched by the Abu Dhabi Department of Culture and Tourism, achieving a new record in the Guinness World Records as the largest and most diverse collection of sweets in the world. The garden's market has also hosted over 300 events, including interactive activities and unique experiences, providing a lively and dynamic atmosphere throughout the season, attracting over 350,000 visitors during its events and festivals in 2023 and 2024. The garden's main attractions include 'Evening Garden', where visitors can relax on the green grass and enjoy the peaceful atmosphere or spend time reading or working, 'Children's Garden', equipped with modern and interactive play areas, 'Cooling and Relaxation Area', which is a large outdoor space for hosting events and performances, 'Open Theater', which can accommodate over 2,000 people, 'Large Grass Area', which spans 18,000 square meters, hosting various activities from football to open areas for practicing yoga, relaxation, and enjoying climbing walls and exercise equipment. The garden also features 'Shadow House', which is one of the garden's main attractions, with over 40 species of plants found in warm-temperate forests, located east-west to reduce morning and afternoon heat gain, 'Wisdom Garden', which honors the legacy of the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, his efforts in environmental conservation, and 'House of Wisdom', a quiet and beautifully designed area inviting visitors to contemplate and reflect on the wise sayings of the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan about love for the country, the environment, education, and the preservation of heritage and the role of women in society, 'Plant Garden', which is one of the garden's main attractions, featuring over 200 regional plant species of cultural and historical significance, and 'Animal Enclosure', home to 26 animals, including goats, horses, rabbits, turtles, and birds. In order to preserve the authenticity and history and heritage of 'Mother of the Emirates' garden, over 200 trees over 20 years old were rescued through uprooting and replanting in their original locations in various parts of the garden, in addition to planting over 150,000 seedlings and 1,200 new trees to provide more shade in 'Plant Garden' and 'Shadow House'. The garden uses a friendly environmental irrigation system through a technique that uses rainwater, providing over 40% of its water needs, and produces compost to fertilize plants and trees through the recycling of waste.
