Let’s assume that a major fedi server implements “quote toots”, where someone can opt in to have their toots quotable.
Let’s say that I use that functionality and someone quotes me.
Ideally, my toot appears at the top, and their added text appears underneath, like a sensible inline reply: context first, then the reply.
What does this achieve, that boosting someone’s toot, and responding to it, does not? Or linking to someone’s toot?
