if you dont want to pay big bucks for data recovery, might try putting it in freezer for a couple of hours and see if that fixes it. if yes, get what you can off it before it fails again.
sounds like disk itself is bad but might also try plugging it into different computer running different OS (e.g., Linux if you've only tried to access via Windows).
