But my experiment design is based on something I’ve observed a few times in many years of ant keeping: an ant being attacked (held) by her sisters for no obvious reason. I *suspect* something wrong with her smell. The attacked ant doesn’t fight back- oddly seems to make her attackers less aggressive— after a time (hours!) the poor thing was released. I don’t know what I saw really!
