Maybe the Western militaries have figured out a nearly surefire way to achieve nuclear supremacy and intend to take Russia off the table. If that is true, then what they are doing makes strategic sense. Having taken Russia off the table, China would be eaiser to deal with and the USA could remain the world hegemon for the next 100 years. If they don't act, then the rise of the BRICS and the fall of the USD would eventually cripple the US.
I guess I shouldn't have said it was stupid and that I can't wrap my head around it. It is conceivably not stupid. But these are only speculations.
