Just found two quotes (from the Hoge Veluwe site) that sum up what I find "missing" in Dutch Nature. There's no wildness, it's all well-regulated, controlled and maintained. This would have irritated me beyond belief in my 20s. Now I find it quite peaceful. (But does not speak to my soul).
