unattended upgrades is entirely optional.

I think Debian's biggest problem is the hyper aversion to things that are not gnu-free. But I don't want Canonical which is a single corporate. Usability improvements can be packages w/o being another distro.

Debian could also allow 3rd party repos. But compiling into /usr/local is still enough for me.
