You have a valid point indeed, but imo, the practice of labeling is already segregation as it is, as when you label any object, you put it into a group of its own, just like labeling blacks as against a group of whites.
That, in itself, is already a clear form of differentiation that contradicts the concept of unity, but which is a way to sort things out, but the practice of segregation, integrated into a system that claims to be democratic or hopes to be democratic, but deals with people from all walks of life, customs, tradition, nature and nurture, always resort to division and eventually, chaos.
It's like some sort of currency to have a functioning society, but in truth, that currency itself is too pricey for human lives, that take the quality of human life as against a very simple system that does not depend much on segregation, just like #NOSTR - simplified, and yet it feels like there's none quite like it, at least for now, simple but immensely functional
I meant to address the segregation that had been in practice during and even after the years of painful slavery, as I can sense every shade of it in what's been going and how I wish, there's a way for people to say goodbye to things that do not work, and hopefully look elsewhere for things that might actually work
and I wasn't sure if I was able to get my message across
