That's the BIG IF though isn't it? When has Apple ever demonstrated any savvy at that price point.
To your point about android phones though, I worry you're seeing TOO narrow a view of the budget and midrange.
Sure, Samsung is wildly boring there too, but you also have to dismiss phones like the Vivo V30, which have cameras that compare VERY well against phones that cost twice as much, and has innovative features like the ring flash I wish was on the Vivo X series.
Or a Pixel 8A at $500, or a OnePlus 12R, phones that completely EMBARRASS more expensive products from Apple and Samsung.
The issue is one of marketing and consumer education. We can't keep pretending there's only a duopoly of manufacturers worth considering, and then also somehow expect consumers to know about these other products.
