They actually had fairly decent sensors for the time (5MP I think, 8MP for the second version). Unfortunately they seemed to be hobbled by poor quality lenses (and fixed fields of view), at least for what I was trying to do.

This body also has an HDMI output which can be used instead of/in combination with the USB output which is handy.

It was the price of a couple of RPi's so I better find lots of use for it!
