I saw a post a day or two ago complaining about the attitude of “oh, they’ve already got all my data, why should I care?” They were arguing that your data is more than just personal identifying info, everyone is always generating data, nobody ever has “all” your data, etc.
And that was it.
At no point was an attempt made to explain what kind of data they’re talking about, or why it’s bad for companies to have it. Just treated as self-evident.
Infosec folks, you’re speaking another language.
