quoting note18t8…u268We're hoping for a release next Friday, but it's possible it slips to the week after.
It's taking so long because it's critical that we do it right, and in a way where we know the least about the user.
We took the Hermes project from Kody from Fedi and rewrote it to fit our stack better and to create a blinded authentication layer over it. This shields the LNURL AUTH identity layer from additional services that might leak metadata about the user. With it, we can offer username registration, paid support tickets, etc. without knowing anything about the user except that they paid for the service.
Probably over engineered for what the average user cares about, but it shouldn't expose any additional friction points. But we'll be able to offer our subscribers more benefits over time while preserving privacy.
The first rollout will be lightning addresses for paid subscribers to test it out. Afterwards, things like anonymous embedded support tickets, and eventually random lightning address names for free users.
