It's funny this comes up because I am editing a book about might and right currently.
The original idea of "might makes right" is basically anti-moralism. It says that whoever has the strength is going to dominate regardless, so focus on strength instead of judgment.
For me, the whole debate seems to miss the point: we need do right. That does not mean factory-style, forcing everyone to conform, in my view.
That approach works poorly.
