A Lifetime of Cooking, aka The French Kitchen, by Diane Holuigue
(I had my SM name, also was my blog name, waaay before I knew of this book. I like to think she took the name from me 😆😆😆 )
One of my (many) most treasured cookbooks. Not because it is particularly vegetarian (it isn't, it's a french cookbook), but because Diane's weekly column in The Australian taught me how to cook in the 1980's. I cooked before, but her columns always contained the basics of the dishes she was writing about. She also widened my perspective on food.
My daughter and I would open the paper excitedly each weekend (we had it delivered in those days), and would often cook one of her recipes during the week. I still have photocopies of some of her columns. Altho my daughter was quite young in those days, she was and is quite a foodie herself.
This book is the largest cookbook I own. It is huge.
