So the programmer rely on the existing solution, instead of exploring other ways to go about it. I also see that sometime when a open source tool is really innovative, often it gets commercialized and the open source part get deprecated or killed, or simply shut down. I think there might not be a lot of incentive for people to create massive innovation that can fail as an open source project, as there are not a lot of mechanism like seed funding and investor for open source projects.
