I realise this is a cultural issue in business, but ye gods, it is not that hard to say, "Oh, I misunderstood, we made a mistake" rather that "Thanks for the information, please disregard for now as the situation is no longer critical".
Like, no, friend. It's not critical because you didn't understand the problem, and that is OK. As is saying you were wrong. Your "for now" tells me I should disregard you in future.
