Once I get comfortable with certain people, I say their names often. When I get even more comfortable, I give them nicknames.

Some think the nicknames are like underhanded jabs. No, it is my way of showing and appreciating something unique about a person but to those who are not comfortable with who they are think it's offensive.

It's a good marker. May not actually not want to know this person any further. Oh well.
